Meditation Shawls and other Aids
To meditate well, it helps to be comfortable in as quiet an environment as possible. Many of our members like to wrap themselves in a mediation shawl or chaddar to both keep warm, and develop an inward mood. (Generally but not always, shawls are smaller than chaddars).
You don't have to sit on the floor if you prefer a chair. The main thing is to sit with an erect back and be in a place free of distraction. If there's too much noise, earplugs work great.
To set a meditative atmosphere, many also like to burn incense. Then, whenever they smell the incense, the mind associates it with the practice of meditation.
