Realizing the highest ideal of non-dual Truth, the ancient seers of India attained to a unity in the religious field; thus, they succeeded in bringing religion to the status of a perfect and complete science. The methods adopted by them to come to this result were the same as those followed by all the sciences of the present day. This book discusses how the philosophers of India applied these rational methods in coming to their respective discoveries, thus establishing the scientific character of Indian philosophy and religion.

Culled from eight lectures of Swami Vivekananda published in the Complete Works, Swami Saradananda, Swamiji’s successor in his preaching activities in the West, has softly edited and slightly adapted the essays with a view to bringing out their import and interconnectedness.
