This Bhagavad Gita commentary is based on the
highly acclaimed Song of God, translated by Swami Prabhavananda
and Christopher Isherwood. It was culled from over 200 of the
swami’s classes, delivered from 1942–1962 at the Vedanta Society
of Southern California.

Swami Prabhavananda was a charismatic speaker, and his Gita
classes used to fill the Vedanta temple whenever he spoke. He was a disciple of Swami Brahmananda.
Swami Prabhavananda associated with Sarada Devi and many of the 
disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. His Gita commentary therefore
incorporates their firsthand teachings, and includes personal life
incidents that help to illustrate the deep philosophical truths of the
Gita—and thus draw us deeper into our own personal study of this
spiritual classic.
