One of the longest epics of ancient world literature, the Ramayana, along with the Mahabharata and the Puranas, forms part of the Hindu Itihasa, the written descriptions of the important events in Hinduism.

The Ramayana follows Rama through his fourteen-year exile in the forest, his travels across the Indian sub-continent with his wife, Sita, and, of course, the adventures of the monkey king Hanuman. Written in a homely style, Rajagopalachari’s translation captures the pathos and beauty of the magic of the Ramayana.
