For a man of his time and place, Swami Vivekananda traveled rather extensively. This short book of memoirs of his second trip to the West, presents the reader with Swami Vivekananda's thoughts on various subjects. Simply put, Swami Vivekananda's keen attention was drawn to a vast panorama of human life and its current, including different cultures, traditions, practices, life-styles, climes, history, topography, etc., and his unique flair to bring out illuminating flashes of truth through sharp and pointed statements makes this book interesting reading indeed.

The only regret, perhaps, is that Swamiji's light and humorous tone in Bengali may be lost in English translation.
