In December of 1997, The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture sponsored an international seminar entitled Vedanta Concepts and Application to observe the Centenary of the founding of the Ramakrishna Mission. Participants read their papers during the four days of the conference, and this book is the result.

Topics included a wide range of philosophical and religious thought from Shankara, to Inter-religious theology, to Chinese Buddhism, to Concepts of Service, and others. The twenty-one contributors include Swamis Lokeswarananda, Atmasthananda, Smaranananda as well as many lay devotees.
