Much mention is made of Alasinga Perumal in all books on Swamiji. This biography not only catalogues his short but profoundly dedicated life, but also those of other famous residents of Madras who were so instrumental to Swamiji's mission. A great book that reveals the mindset of the late 19th century urban South Indian and how so orthodox a community was convinced to Swamiji's somewhat radical message.
