Adhyatma Ramayana: The Spiritual Version of the Rama Saga
The Adhyatma Ramayana is the spiritual version of the Ramayana. Here we see how all the events are but a scheme of the Supreme Being. Valuable spiritual treasures abound, especially how to reach liberation while being in the world. For instance Rama's advice to Lakshman:
"The Atman is distinct from the senses, mind, Prana, Buddhi and other categories. Pure and changeless, the Atman is the universal self-conscious intelligence shining without the help of any other entity. As long as one does not realize (this).... so long will one be subject to the sufferings of transmigratory life, including death. Therefore ever think of the Atman as residing in the heart in complete separation from the body-mind complex. While knowing the Atman thus, follow the ways of the world at the same time."
A difficult to follow advice, but as we see how Sri Rama seamlessly fulfills his duties, He is every aware of His real nature, He never falls into bondage. Thus He has set an example for us to follow.
