I do self-study in Sanskrit, and I find that it is helpful to use several books in studying it. This book is a good addition to a Sanskrit library. It does give you a lot of material at once, yet there is not an answer key so you know whether you've got the right answers. Also, the Sanskrit letters are very ornate and in many books, they are in small print and are hard to read. Studying Sanskrit, for me, has been largely about method--how do you practically study it so you can adequately process what you need to know. I'd also recommend Judith M. Tyberg's FIRST LESSONS IN SANSKRIT.
